About

Dr. Mohammad Alsuwaidan is a psychiatrist specializing in mood & anxiety disorders at the University of Toronto. He has additional areas of expertise in medical education and public health. Among his areas of interest are: novel treatments for mood disorders, the use of technology in service delivery and knowledge transfer, and mental health systems/policy reform.

He has been involved in numerous research endeavours and clinical trials and has led efforts to elucidate the effects of physical exercise on mood disorders neurobiology. He has received several awards for his work including the Association for Academic Psychiatry Fellowship, the Lilly Young Investigator Fellowship in Bipolar Disorder and the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) Leadership Fellowship - considered the oldest and most prestigious of the APA resident fellowships.

Dr. Alsuwaidan completed his psychiatric residency and mood & anxiety disorders fellowship at the University of Toronto. He has also trained at the Stanford University Bipolar Disorders Clinic and the Tufts University Mood Disorders Clinic. He is currently a Master of Public Health candidate at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Research, Innovation and Scholarship in Education (RISE) fellow at the University of Toronto's Wilson Centre for Research in Education. 

Dr. Alsuwaidan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with specialist certification in psychiatry. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
