About

My motivation to become a social worker was influenced by diverse experiences. This includes personal, family and community experiences. I believe in order to be an effective and efficient social worker; one must possess certain personal attributes. A social worker must enjoy working with people. Having worked in the human service field both locally and internationally for over 8 years, I can truly say that I am committed to work with individuals from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds and experiences and who at-times share different values, ideas and beliefs systems. This is a critical attribute as it will allow me the opportunity to understand and be sensitive to the issues client faces.

My primary areas of interest in social work are in “Health and Mental Health”. Within this stream, one of the many contemporary issues that are of interest to me is to investigate the relationship between addiction, mental health and homelessness, and to engage with the most effective treatment model and intervention for people living with addiction and mental health issues. Primarily (but not limited to), marginalized groups. This includes members of the LGBTQ community, disability, and people from racialized communities

I hold a Diploma in  Community Work & Development form George Brown College. A Professional Certification, in Anti-Racist Research & Practice and a Bachelors of Social Work degree from York University. I am currently a Masters of Social Work student at University of Toronto
