About
Justin is a doctoral student at the University of Toronto's Department for the Study of Religion with a collaborative program at the Centre for Diaspora & Transnational Studies. His current research interests include, North American and Japanese spiritualities, the transnational movement of healing and spirit possession practices, as well as the project by religious practitioners and parapsychologists to create a “spiritual science.”
Justin received his B.A. in Philosophy from Hamilton College and his M.A. in Religion (Asian) from the University of Hawaii. His Master's thesis was a historiographical analysis of the divergent biographies of Reiki's founder, Usui Mikao (1865-1926). When not reading books, he enjoys brewing beer, seeing live music, and being out of doors.
